| Sharon Gainsburg has been teaching stone carving for over 22 years with great success to adults with no previous experience. Using a direct method approach Sharon begins her students with no pre-models, sketches or pre visualizations. The students go directly to the stone with a hammer and chisel. This direct method allows students to experience the creative process with less anxiety and better connect with the material and process. |
Sharon teaches all aspects of stone carving including polishing technique and the use of power tools for the more advanced students on a private basis. After a student has completed their first piece, they can attempt to work from a clay model and create a form that is more representational. Classes are 3 hours/week for a 12 week session.
